Step 1:
Download and Install Virtual Box from here http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/server-storage/virtualbox/downloads/index.html
Step 2:
Download and Install Virtual Box extensions from here http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/4.1.6/Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-4.1.6-74713.vbox-extpack. This is useful incase you plan to switch to full-screen mode etc.
Step 3:
Download pre-built developer VMs from here http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/community/developer-vm/index.html
Step 4: Import the VM as shown below using “Import Appliance”
This should create a virtual machine. Adjust the properties of the VM as memory, video memory, network etc.
That is it, you are ready to launch the VM. For Database App Developer VM the user id and passwords are oracle/oracle.
